Quality Lead works with the manufacturing and engineering teams and is responsible for quality procedures within the facility. This includes incoming material inspection, first article inspections, process quality improvements and monitoring, and outgoing product quality. With an attention to detail, ensure all Huish Outdoors products meet the quality standards and specifications set forth by the company. Our customers purchase our products because they demand quality. It is the Quality Lead's responsibility to ensure we exceed their expectations and that we create a wow experience every time a customer receives one of our products.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and deliver on KPI's for the quality team, including but not limited to inspection turnaround times, inspection accuracy and quality assurance.
- Implement and provide continuous improvement of in-process production quality assurance programs to ensure process stability which output consistent products within document specifications.
- Document and implement production controls taking a risk-based approach to ensure parts consistently meet specification.
- Maintain facility calibration and equipment maintenance program.
- Develop and maintain a first article program for new parts for internal and external suppliers.
- Document incoming, in-process, production First Article Inspections, and outgoing quality inspections following the company's quality management system guidelines.
- Communicate required adjustments to the Shop Manager or Production Supervisor
- Document inspection results in the Quality Management System. Create reporting and share results with the Quality Manager and Production Manager.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications, Skills, and Abilities
- High School Diploma or GED
- Bachelor's degree in engineering with an emphasis in Quality Assurance preferred
- 3 - 5 years quality inspection, assurance, and systems experience in a Quality Management System certified machine shop/manufacturing environment.
- Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment ideal.
- Working knowledge of Six Sigma and Statistical Process Control preferred.
- Must be able to develop and follow written procedures and specifications.
- Proficient in the use of dimensional and electronic inspection tools and test equipment.
- Ability to read engineering documents.
- Ability to understand standard measurements and tolerances.
- Ability to use measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, thread gauges, etc.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
- Experience using NetSuite or other ERP software preferred.
- Proficient ability in communications with others using written and spoken English, including the ability to provide clear, constructive feedback to production staff.
- Ability to lift at least 30 lbs. and stand for long periods of time.
