Sports Instructor Salary : $11.00 - $13.00 per hour
Sports Instructor Hours : Hours vary based on shift, Sunday-Saturday Weekend Availability a must (Part Time)
Sports Instructor Responsibilities :
- Instructs sports lessons in accordance with YMCA guidelines, having prepared lesson plans accordingly, and supports members and program participants in achieving their goals
- Develops and maintains positive relationships with volunteers, members or program participants, and colleagues at all levels of the organization
- Helps participants and families connect with each other and the YMCA; and encourages parent or caregiver involvement
- Conveys information on sports programs and schedules and as appropriate refers program participants and families to other programs
- Maintains records as required e.g., attendance, progress reports
- Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations, and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures
- Completes incident and accident reports as necessary
- Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Reports damaged equipment
- Trains and supervises class aides as assigned
- Other duties, responsibilities, and activities related to social media marketing may be assigned
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information
- Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions
- Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner
- Role model YMCA values and principles to develop the physical and personal growth of all participants
- Performs other duties as assigned
Sports Instructor Qualifications :
- One (1) or more years of related Youth/Adult Sports experience required
- At least sixteen (16) years of age
- Within thirty (30) days of hire must complete Child Abuse Prevention; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens; Mandated Reporter Training
- Completion of YMCA program-specific and trainer certifications
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- Good analytical/critical thinking
- Familiarity with personal computers helpful
- Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
- Valid and current driver's license preferred
- Able to effectively communicate and build relationships with Y staff, members, and vendors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good customer service skills, high ethical standards, an appropriate professional image, and a team player
- Must possess sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment skills, and a positive attitude
- Bi-lingual English/Spanish preferred, but not required
