Facility Operation Plant Locations:

USM provides recycling services across the U.S. to over 6,500 customers. We operate full-scale plants in 7 states Illinois (Headquarters), Indiana, Missouri, Virginia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Florida. This position will operate out of the headquarters in Cicero, IL.

Position Overview:

The Supplier Diversity and DEI Specialist will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing United Scrap Metal's DEI strategies and initiatives. In this role, you will primarily focus on driving external supplier diversity efforts to leverage USM's status as a woman-owned business for mutually beneficial partnerships. Additionally, you will be responsible for building and contextualizing our internal supplier diversity program. A portion of your responsibilities will involve maintaining and evolving the DEI strategy. This includes working with our DEI and people analytics consultant partners, tracking DEI metrics with successes and opportunity areas over time, creation of internal DEI messaging, and source and create DEI quarterly trainings. The Supplier Diversity and DEI Specialist will report directly to the Senior Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.

Responsibilities:

External Supplier Diversity:

• Develop and lead USM's external supplier diversity program, creating strategic alliances with organizations and networks committed to fostering supplier diversity.

• Identify, engage, and concisely present USM to diverse suppliers to expand our prospective network.

• Drive supplier diversity connections and introductions that provide measurable results. • Collaborate with internal team members to promote and move targeted organizations through the pipeline. Internal Supplier Diversity:

• Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement an effective supplier diversity program within USM, ensuring that our supply chain mirrors our commitment to DEI. • Establish metrics and tracking mechanisms to measure the success of our internal supplier diversity initiatives.

• Train and educate internal stakeholders on the importance of supplier diversity and its alignment with our DEI goals. Supplier Diversity & DEI Specialist

• Align with the certifying organizations to provide certified supplier connections to our purchasing team. DEI Responsibilities:

• Develop and refine DEI strategies aligned with USM's short-term and long-term objectives across various markets and geographies.

• Shape understanding of DEI within our team members and community populations through internal and external communication and training efforts.

• Serve as a point of contact and advocate for DEI concerns, actively monitoring the DEI climate at USM.

• Provide DEI awareness training for HR team, addressing bias and inclusion in hiring and accessibility accommodations.

• Accountable for ongoing data analysis, surveying, and benchmarking related to DEI.

Qualifications:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier diversity, procurement, or related fields, with a proven track record of driving supplier diversity initiatives.

• Experience working with diverse suppliers and promoting supplier diversity within an organization.

• Experience and comfort representing the company publicly. • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college/university in a related field.

• Strong leadership and excellent verbal and written communication skills for engaging with internal teams and external contacts.

• Proven experience in leading both short-term and long-term organizational goals to fruition. • Ability to critically assess organizational goals in alignment with diverse market and geographic needs.

• Willingness to travel up to 15-20% to multiple domestic facilities, conferences, and external events, as required to implement strategic initiatives and support our expanding geographic footprint.

• Must be in commuting distance to our headquarters in Cicero, IL. since this is a hybrid role
