Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Electrical Computer Engineering


The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at The University of Memphis invites

applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning August 2024.

Qualifications:

An earned doctoral degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field is required. Advanced ABD’s will be considered, but a doctoral degree must be earned by the start date of the position.

Summary/Duties:

We seek applicants who will contribute to research and teaching efforts across Electrical and Computer Engineering, including in one or more emphasis areas: Hardware-software co-design and embedded systems, VLSI, ASIC design and microelectronics MEMs, FPGAs, sensor networks and Internet of Things (IoT) and other closely related research areas.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, establish an externally funded research program, mentor M.S. and Ph.D. students and participate in faculty service activities.

Information about the City, University, College and Department:

The University of Memphis is the largest public university and engineering program in western Tennessee with a faculty of approximately 1000 professors and serves about 16,000 undergraduate and 4,800 graduate students. The Electrical & Computer Engineering Department has 12 tenured/tenure-track faculty positions and an enrollment of about 307 students pursuing B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees. It is home to two accredited undergraduate programs of 256 students and a graduate MS program of 32 students. In addition, currently 19 PhD students are pursuing a PhD in Engineering degree (housed in the Herff College of Engineering) with concentrations in Electrical and Computer Engineering. Potential collaborations exist in the application areas of biomedical imaging and sensing, remote sensing for defense, agriculture and environmental applications, autonomous navigation of aerial and ground-based vehicles, robotics, and cyber security.
