Job description

Responsibilities

The Program Therapist performs social service functions to include assisting clients in meeting their bio-psycho-social needs while enabling them to access through therapeutic treatment skills to achieve their optimal level of emotional health, including providing basic consultation, teaching, and specialized clinical social services for patients/families receiving care.  The clinical social services provided includes crisis intervention, short-term family therapy, group therapy and discharge planning.  The Program Therapist serves as an integral member of the treatment team and is also responsible for case management of patients internal/ external support systems. 

$5,000 SIGN ON BONUS

Qualifications

JOB SPECIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each primary duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education: Master’s Degree in a mental health/human services field from an accredited college (counseling, social work, psychology) required.

Experience: Two (2) years experience desired, preferably in a behavioral health care facility, with direct experience in individual, family and group therapies, crisis intervention and treatment. Experience working with the child/adolescent population.

Licensure/Certification: LCSW/LCPC preferred .  Certification as alcohol or other drug abuse counselor preferred. Successful completion of CPR certification and the current patient aggression management training, including appropriate use of Seclusion and Restraint, within 90 days of employment.

Knowledge/Skills: Strong clinical assessment skills, with majority of experience focused on the child/adolescent population. Knowledge of information referral. Knowledge of the federal, state and local laws that pertain to enquires right to privacy and confidentiality. Knowledge utilization review. Knowledge of legal obligations for reporting abuse and/or neglect. Knowledge of community resources relating to patient care. Knowledge of individual, family and group therapy techniques.  Knowledge of crisis intervention procedures. Knowledge of therapeutic planning and techniques. Understand the importance of adapting to the various client age groups (adolescent/child). Knowledge of the treatment of chemical dependency.  DHS/DCFS background/knowledge. Must possess physical and emotional health to meet the demands of the position. Effective oral and written communication skills.  Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines. Must be a self-starter and goal/results-oriented. Ability to use good judgment and to maintain confidentiality of information. Microsoft Office and computer skills. Strong customer service skills to external and internal customers. Ability to adhere to safety policies and code procedures react calmly and effectively in emergency situations. Ability to accept direction and adhere to policies and procedures. Ability to work in a fast paced environment. Strong problem solving skills
