Who are we?

Lutheran Hospital is a 396-bed tertiary care facility located in Fort Wayne, IN. Known to be Northern Indiana’s only kidney transplant program as well as having Lutheran Children’s Hospital and Neonatal intensive care, an accredited cancer program, bariatric surgery center, and breast center. Our facility also has a Level II adult and pediatric trauma center.

Under the immediate direction of the Supervisor or Laboratory Manager, perform low, moderate and high complexity patient testing. Provide guidance to staff to assure appropriate clinical training and competency review. Serve as the primary technical consultant, provide resolution to client issues, and maintain customer service and support. Perform QA monitoring and documentation, proficiency testing evaluation, and assist with evaluating new assays and/or equipment. Assist supervisor and manager in planning section goals and procedures for accomplishing goals. Work in conjunction with the Supervisor or Laboratory Manager to oversee the laboratory in his/her absence and to assure a focus and commitment to the laboratory’s goals and mission. Creative thinker with an ability to offer solutions/opinions within a matrix organization. Flexibility and adaptability to operate within a highly demanding project environment with a focus on execution and meeting deadlines.
Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. This role is expected to travel across multiple sites during projects.


Minimal Acceptable Job Qualifications:

Licensure / Certification : MT, CLS, MLT certification, or equivalent preferred, but not required.


Experience : Minimum 3-5 years of recent clinical laboratory experience with progressively more responsibility in Chemistry, Immunoassay, and Middleware operations. Experience facilitating discussions, process planning, and managing multiple workstreams.


Education : Associate or Baccalaureate degree from a regionally accredited college/university including courses in molecular or biological science, chemistry, and mathematics (meeting the hours for each as mandated by the CLIA requirements for a medical technologist).
