Job description
The Video Lead works as part of the Conference Committee, oversees the Video Brigade and ensures that Annual Conference video/audio is collected, edited, curated and posted for attendees and members in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities
- Recruit and coordinate volunteers to help edit captions.
- Collaborate with the AV & Livestream Lead.
- Capture B-roll video at the conference.
- Create and edit promotional videos.
- Manage video editing and editors, and ensure all videos are edited and posted within established tight deadlines — generally within 3 weeks of receipt.
- Coordinate uploading of the videos, captions, thumbnails and session descriptions to the video hosting platform.
- Procure session captions or transcripts, in coordination with the operations director.
- Work with Safety, Inclusion and Accessibility Lead to meet accessibility needs for online content consumers.
- Organize session video, transcripts and slides and share with the Membership Committee for posting to the Professional Development Library.
- Work with the Membership Committee to share as resources become available for posting.
- Promote the conference through personal social media and professional networks.
- Facilitate an environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.
- Act as Leader as part of the Association’s Leadership Development program.
Qualifications
Required
- Proficiency editing and posting video and audio.
- Ability and interest in leading volunteers.
- Strong organization, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to satisfactorily complete tasks in a timely manner.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Membership in the Association (including free general membership), which can be fulfilled at application.
Preferred
- Experience working with an external AV company.
- Ability to work with project management/team communication platforms such as Slack, Clickup, etc.
- Access to own video equipment to shoot B-roll video at the event.
- Google Drive proficiency.
Estimated Time Commitment
- The video lead is expected to virtually attend scheduled Conference Committee meetings, and to organize and lead video team meetings.
- Leading up to the conference, this position can expect to spend one to two hours per week recruiting video editing volunteers and supporting track co-chairs.
- After the conference, this position can expect to spend 20-40 hours over the course of three weeks to coordinate the editing and uploading of session media and captions.
Length of Appointment
One Annual Conference season (usually November – November)

Conference Attendance
Annual conference attendance is not required. Conference registration is waived for this position.
