Primary Responsibilities

As an NEC Accountant, their primary responsibilities shall include professionally protecting the Cooperative's accounting systems by establishing and maintaining highly accurate accounting records and assisting in the preparation of corresponding financial reports. They shall ensure an effective and efficient recording of events at the Cooperative by providing for the proper accounting of expenses to ensure proper disbursement of NEC funds.

Essential Job Functions

• Supports the reconciliation of the retail subsidiary and all affiliated areas of the retail department.
• Ensures highly accurate accounting records by keying and reconciling accounts payable and check printing for all batch prints including transaction posting to material, transportation, and work orders on all A/P invoices. Prepare 1099's annually and maintain vendor records.
• Assists in smooth flow of accounting practices by performing accruals to General Ledger each month on all overhead spreads for expensing monthly company liabilities.
• Provides support by maintaining depreciation and accurate asset value on Distribution Plant and General Plant monthly.
• Establishes highly accurate accounting records for the Cooperative by accurate reconciliation of retired or abandoned General Plant assets.

Minimum Requirements

• Associate or bachelor's degree in accounting or related area or focus of accounting discipline.
• Three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook, including intermediate to advanced skills on Excel.
• Working knowledge of fax, copier, calculator, and other office equipment.
• Must complete the RUS correspondence course on RUS bookkeeping procedures within one year after receiving the course.

Preferred Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting
• Three years' experience in accounting
• Preferred Certified Public Accountant Certification

Licenses or Certifications

• Valid Class C Texas Drivers License
