Advertised Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of South Caroliniana Library, the Head of Processing is chiefly responsible for overseeing the arrangement and description of all manuscript collections housed in the various units within University Libraries Special Collections.
A professional-track faculty member, the Head of Processing will supervise several full-time staff members as well as student workers and interns as needed.

Duties include but are not limited to:

Supervising all archival processing across Special Collections, including setting priorities for and supervising all full-time Special Collections processing staff as well as part-time student workers and interns.

Arranging and describing archival collections from various units within Special Collections.

Required Education and Experience:

MLIS from an ALA-accredited institution or other relevant graduate degree and relevant experience processing complex manuscript collections
Experience supervising student workers, interns, volunteers, or full-time staff

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with ArchivesSpace or other archival management systems
