Job description
We are currently seeking a Financial Analyst 1 to join our dynamic team within the Department of Radiation Oncology at Stanford University School of Medicine. This role offers the opportunity to engage in moderately complex finance functions related to sponsored research budgeting and forecasting, requiring a blend of financial acumen, award management expertise, and adherence to both internal policies and external regulations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct financial analysis, data mining, and investigation of account discrepancies, providing proactive solutions and process improvements.
- Maintain, reconcile, and validate financial data sets and accounts, utilizing various financial reports and databases.
- Contribute to budget development, forecasting, and key decision-making activities.
- Run and analyze financial reports, assisting in the preparation of management information reports.
- Collaborate with the Associate Director of Finance on special projects involving ad hoc financial reports and analysis.
- Serve as a resource to principal investigators and staff on financial matters.
- Participate in cross-training on core functions and serve as a backup to other team members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of two years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with financial systems and internet/computer literacy.
- Basic understanding and application of accounting principles.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Basic project management skills and ability to contribute effectively within a team.
Physical Requirements:
- Primarily sedentary work; however, occasional standing/walking and lifting/carrying of light objects may be required.
Working Conditions:
- This role is fully remote, with availability expected during regular working hours, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm.
Compensation and Benefits:
- The expected pay range for this position is $67,000 to $100,000 per annum, based on location.
