Cohort Navigator - 8461ED SS Pro 1-Student Engage & Dev

The Center for American and Indian Health and Minority Health with the University of Minnesota Medical School, Duluth Campus (UMMSD), is hiring a Cohort Navigator (CN) to assist with a pilot project focused on retention of American Indian/Alaska Native students as they begin their studies at Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College and transfer to the University of Minnesota - Duluth. The CN will serve as a student case manager, guiding students through their college coursework and research training and addressing any barriers to student success. The CN will meet each student once they are accepted to the program in late spring to review the coming year, including whether or not the student will need prematriculation coursework. The CN is responsible for helping the students enroll in the prematriculation courses and in their courses for their two years at Fond Du Lac Tribal and Community College (FDLTCC). The CN will meet weekly with each student and every other week with them as a group. A critical role for the CN is ensuring that students are on track to transfer to and graduate from UMD. The CN will provide academic monitoring, regular check-ins, retention activities, family support, financial aid counseling, and coordinate community cultural events and logistics for the seminar series.
