Job description

Join the Stouffer Legal team as our Fiduciary Litigator ! You will try cases in court as needed, or negotiate settlement if it's in the best interest of the client. You will complete client intake, oversee case management, and complete legal research to expertly apply the law.

This job is located in person in Towson, Maryland. The hours are 8:00am to 5:30pm Monday through Friday and the job is approximately 45-50 hours per week.

The pay range for the position is $125,000 to $140,000 per year based on experience.

Time Allocation of Responsibilities

When not in court, your time each week will likely be split into four main areas:

• Client intake (30%)
• Case Management (30%)
• Settlement Negotiations (30%)
• Legal Research (10%)

Functional Responsibilities

• Try and/or appeal cases pertaining to fiduciary litigation
• Complete research to understand and challenge legal precedent when required, to correctly interpret and apply the law

Projects within the first 12 months

• Develop and improve processes for handling fiduciary litigation cases
• Assist in laying the groundwork for creating a fiduciary litigation department
• Create a typical profile of our ideal client

Our ideal candidate is an expert in Civil Procedure, and is highly skilled in researching case law and legal precedent. You enjoy trying cases in court and expertly applying the law, particularly when there are novel interpretations. You have good rapport with clients and are able to counsel them on the best course of action in their situation. You are able to negotiate settlements when needed. You enjoy creating new internal processes and procedures, as this will be a new area of practice for our firm and we are developing our best practices.
