ENERCON’s Energy Group (EG) provides engineering design support to industrial facilities, traditional power generation facilities (natural gas, steam, and hydro turbines), as well as alternative, renewable, and sustainable power generation facilities (waste-to-energy, solar, wind, and hydrogen). EG focuses on green energy solutions that achieve large-scale production with minimal environmental impacts.

Due to our continued growth, our Energy, Renewables & Environmental Services Group is seeking an  Engineering Manager – Civil / Environmental  for our   Kennesaw, GA (HQ) or Tampa, FL  office location. Although these offices are  the   preferred locations, we will also consider candidates with the right background and years’ experience to work remotely. The Engineering Manager will be responsible for managing a team of Civil & Environmental Engineers and Designer/Drafters.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to

• Leadership – Demonstrate technical and personnel leadership, providing resolution to technical issues, growth and development of staff while minimizing attrition and supporting the growth and success of this rapidly growing group.
• Client Service  – Maintain external client relationships, resolve conflicts and concerns with client, and develop client relationships to be engineer of choice.
• Business Development  – Support ENERCON’s Business Development team, support marketing efforts by preparing and delivering capabilities presentations to external clients and contribute through individual efforts and client contacts to future growth goals. Contribute to proposals by prepping technical scope and estimating labor hours.
• Personnel Management  – Perform day to day staff management, perform annual reviews, promote the career and technical growth of staff. Recruit, interview and hire staff. Develop performance improvement plans for staff as required. At a project level, hold weekly meetings with direct reports to ensure the maintenance of schedules, budgets, and excellent quality of deliverables. Assign tasks to balance workload and review, approve and, if applicable, affix a professional engineer’s seal to documents.
• Technical Experience  – Possess Civil Site and/or Environmental (water treatment, landfill, or water resources) design and engineering consulting experience preferably within the power generation or large industrial facility markets.
• Identify and develop future leaders of the organization.
• Contribute to Business Goals by meeting budgeted billable time for self and staff.

Required Qualifications/ skills

• BS Degree in Engineering and at least 10 years of engineering experience.
• Current PE License in one or more states.
• Significant technical expertise in either Civil Engineering (industrial and commercial site development, site grading, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, site permitting, parking, lighting) or Environmental Engineering (potable water treatment, landfill capping/lining, SWPPP, SPCC, water quality).
• Knowledge of applicable government codes and industry standards
• Experience managing or supervising a team of civil and environmental engineers and environmental scientists previously.
• Strong coordination and team-building skills; demonstrated ability to work across disciplines, divisions, and teams. Ability to assess and understand team strengths and weaknesses and adjust level of support/oversight as appropriate.
• Ability to create a positive work environment for team.
• Excellent organizational, time management, strategic planning, writing, communication, decision-making, and presentation skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Comfortable and effective communicator with staff, clients (internal and external), and management
• Able to choose the right mode of communication for the situation and relay the right message.
• Strong technical writing, attention to detail, and human performance skills.
• Ability to motivate team members and achieve goals through a positive, winning attitude and effective leadership style which is consistent with ENERCON’s Defining Excellence fundamentals.
• Problem-solving and general scientific evaluation skills
• Required to travel up to 25% of the time, with the majority of travel being single overnight trips to clients or ENERCON office. 
• Expected to travel at least once per month to client sites for project or marketing purposes.

  Employment Requirement

• Ability to pass a pre-employment and random drug and alcohol screenings, ENERCON and client-specific background checks, and annual motor vehicle record (MVR) according to company and client policies.
