Job description
The Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) is a network of centers throughout the state of Florida that assist small businesses at no-cost. It operates in partnership with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the state of Florida, and other local organizations.
The primary objective of the Florida SBDC is to help small businesses grow and succeed by offering a wide range of consulting services, training programs, and resources. These services are typically provided at little or no cost to the small business owner.
Job Responsibilities.- Educate and advise clients on growth strategies, business model concepts, advanced financial forecasting, advanced capital structures, and strategies through following network consulting policies and procedures.
- Provide one-on-one advice and consulting including business and strategic plan development; financial analysis and planning; marketing research and plan development; business management and operations; and basic legal issues.
- Develop educational materials and present educational programs as appropriate.
- Conduct outreach to educate clients, partners, and stakeholders on SBDC services and impact.
- Contribute to knowledge creation and dissemination through communicating with peers and participating in network activities.
- Significant networking and alliance building with community partners including Economic Development Agencies, Chambers of Commerce, and other community organizations to build a client service base.

Qualifications.- Master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization OR a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience.
- Strong grasp of English spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
- Self-starter with strong time-management skills.
- Comfortable working in a team environment and networking with community resources.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Ability to prioritize and multi-task.
- Significant knowledge of entrepreneurship, small business management and operations, business financing, financial analysis and accounting, marketing, market research, and human resource management.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication, problem-solving, and listening skills.
- Ability to manage a client portfolio.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Proficient computer skills and ability to use the CRM to enter data and generate reports.
- Ability to travel locally.
- Must be able to work both independently and collaboratively.
- This position requires the successful completion of 20 hours of pre-approved professional development credits each calendar year.
- This position may work evenings attending meetings and events.
- During declared campus emergencies, this position may be required to perform specific job-related duties at a designated off-campus location or place of residence.
- In accordance with UWF Human Resources Policy HR-20.02-09/15, Recruitment, Selection, and Appointment, a time-limited appointment is a position funded by contract and grant, auxiliary, or local fund, for a project for a specific period. A time-limited position shall have the same rights as a regular position except that the position is not entitled to notice of separation at the expiration of the appointment and shall not have layoff and recall rights.
