Job Title: ZipTour Operator Level I

Department: Mountain Operations

Reports To: ZipTour Manager

Rate of Pay: $16.50 per hour

Shift: Full-time & Part-time, Seasonal positions

Variable shifts 9:00am - 7:00pm, Must be available weekends and holidays

SUMMARY

Provide a safe, informative, and memorable ZipTour experience for guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Comfortably work at variable ZipTour span heights.

Effectively communicate with both adults and children in group and individual settings.

Handle stressful situations calmly and effectively.

Handle multiple tasks and be creative and motivated.

Exhibit high level of attention to detail to ensure safety and overall positive guest experience.

Complete daily opening and closing procedures of ZipTour course.

Genuinely meet, engage, and establish rapport with each guest to ensure a transformational experience.

Ensure the safety and wellbeing of guests throughout each tour by following safety standards.

Clearly communicate safety instructions to each participant.

Assist with weigh-in, waivers, and harness distribution.

Fit participants with correct harness and helmets, supervising the appropriate use of all safety equipment.

Demonstrate how to carry gear and wear safety harness.

Conduct pre-tour safety orientation for each tour group.

Review safety precautions at each platform and answer any guest questions or concerns.

Mount trolleys to the track cable for each rider.

Passionately educate guests about the history of Sundance, geology, flora, and fauna.

Share the Sundance story of land preservation and environmental commitment as the occasion arises.

Perform essential safety checks for each guest prior to riding ZipTour spans.

Assist with the landing of each participant, ensuring their safety on every approach.

Ride ZipTour to next landing point demonstrating proper zipping techniques.

Attend required meetings and trainings.

Complete required site-specific safety training course offered by the company.

Assist with course maintenance efforts.

Conduct and document complete inspections of all course components and gear.

Inspect all lines for safety.

Inspect each platform for safety, cleanliness, and supplies (water, first aid, etc.).

Inspect harnesses, pulleys, carabineers, and helmets for integrity and cleanliness.

Check brake pad to ensure wear is within the acceptable range and lanyard assemblies are not twisted or tangled.

Responsible for gear safety and maintenance, including but not limited to washing, cleaning, sanitizing, and preparing equipment.

Safely perform course rescues to the Sundance standard.

Support the on-mountain recycling program.

Exhibit excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Demonstrate awareness of weather conditions and safety parameters for operation, and communicate conditions to the necessary leadership.

Understands and utilizes all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and cultivates a positive culture around PPE usage .

Be aware of weather conditions and elements to ensure a safe environment for self and guests.

Winter Operations include the following: De-ice cables & clear pathways and platforms of snow.

ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT

Support and participate in environmental programs associated with position, for example: minimize waste, recycle, conserve energy, purchase and use sustainable products, educate co-workers/guests on environmental ethic, support vendors with similar environmental ethic, decrease pollution levels, minimize the use of toxic chemicals, restore wild life habitats, and carpool with co-workers to minimize carbon emissions. All employees are invited to participate in environmental or Sundance Preserve sponsored events.

DRESS CODE

Sundance recognizes the impact that our image has on the guest's impression of the resort and the perception of our ability to provide professional service to our clientele. As representatives of Sundance all employees including mangers are expected to be in compliance with the Dress Code determined for his/her department as defined in the job description or follow the standards below.

In order to best promote a positive, professional image that meets Sundance guest's expectations, managers and supervisors are required to dress in a professional, conservative fashion that is appropriate for their area. Please use the following as a minimum standard.

All aspects of the Personal Appearance policy (SPL#50) must be in compliance.

Wear nametags at all times while on duty.

Must wear designated uniforms at all times.

Dress weather appropriate for conditions.

Clothing must be unwrinkled, clean, and in good condition (no rips, tears, or frays regardless of whether accidental or fashionably placed).

Blue jeans are permitted.

Skirts not allowed.

Shorts may not be shorter than 2" above knee.

A tailored fit is required of all clothing.

Tank tops, halter tops tube tops, and spaghetti straps are prohibited.

Sleeveless shirts are permitted for females.

Bare midriffs are prohibited.

Close toed, non-slip footwear for your department is required.

Flip flops and sandals are prohibited in all areas.

If your department allows t-shirts, they must be in good condition and have appropriate Sundance logos.

If your department allows baseball caps, they must be in good condition and have appropriate Sundance logos.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Previous zipline operating experience preferred, but not required.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

No certifications are required.

TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS

Use of a 2-way radio is frequently required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Based on ZipTour Rider Requirements, ZipTour Operators must meet the following standards to ride the ZipTour:

Measure between 48" and 82" tall.

Weigh between 50 and 260 pounds.

Must not be pregnant.

No history of neck, back or spine injuries.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and extreme outside weather conditions (high heat in Summer, cold, icy, snowy conditions in Winter). The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
