Job Summary: Under general supervision, the primary purpose of the Jack H. Brown College (JHBC) Graduate Student Services Professional is to represent, market, recruit for, and grow the MBA Traditional, Executive and Online Executive Programs and other JHBC graduate programs. The recruiter must present a polished and professional image; this position represents the university to internal and external constituents.
Duties and responsibilities: Recruitment:
- Communicate and respond to inquiries from potential MBA and other graduate students in a timely fashion to increase the number of students enrolling in JHBC graduate programs.
- Attend recruiting events, such as grad fairs, conferences, benefits fairs, etc. to promote the MBA and other JHBC graduate programs.
- Communicate the benefits of the MBA Traditional, Executive and Online Executive Programs, as well as other graduate programs in the JHBC, to potential applicants and other audiences.
- Plan and perform presentations, including CSUSB classroom visits.
- Assist with preparing recruiting materials for print, social media and websites.
- Host virtual biweekly information sessions that may involve basic interviewing and counseling techniques.
- Build community partnerships by researching and contacting various community organizations and services including, but not limited to, colleges and universities, employment agencies, recruiters, media, and internet sites.
- Create and maintain relationships and rapport with community and university partners. Provide organization information, opportunities, and benefits to community partners.
- Collaborate with the Graduate Admissions, Center for International Studies & Programs (CISP) Admissions, College of Extended & Global Education (CEGE), Veterans Success Center, Alumni Affairs and various other university offices as needed to increase recruitment results.
- In partnership with the MBA and other graduate program directors, develop metrics and goals for program student recruitment.
- Support JHBC graduate directors and Dean in developing and executing an annual graduate student recruitment plan.
- Generate student surveys and analyze results to determine MBA and other graduate business market trends. Admissions:
- Provide weekly updates to director and coordinator partners on current applicant status and admissions data.
- Maintain familiarity with domestic and international admission requirements.
- Maintain the coordination of applicant files and supplemental application materials, including GMAT/GRE, resume, statement of purpose and letters of recommendation.
- Review applicant records, in determination of final admission decision in coordination with department approver.
- Interview and counsel student applicants to the MBA and other graduate programs as appropriate, assisting in determination of applicant qualifications.
- Review each completed application and provide guidance on applicant qualifications to admissions review panel.
- Communicate admissions decisions to applicants.
- Maintain records of applicant acceptances and denials.
- Coordinate information related to applicant appeals. Student Engagement: Student Ambassadors:
- Monitor, coordinate and provide recommendations to Graduate Student Ambassador Program.
- Vetting, mentoring and counseling 10+ Graduate students at one time.
- Offer opportunities to improve their professional qualities and engage them in networking opportunities.
- Advise and provide guidance for best practices in future academic and professional goals.
- Track program engagement and offer suggestions and plans for continued program improvement.
- Compile and track student participation for reporting purposes and end of year recognition. Graduate Service Learning:
- Collaborate with Graduate Alumni, current students, faculty and other partners across campus to coordinate and arrange engagement in Graduate service learning experiences.
- Plan and present at information sessions related to the Graduate service team. Graduate Alumni Speaker Series:
- Prepare programming connecting graduate students and alumni.
- Offer counseling and guidance related to zoom, speaking, and presentation qualities for alumni. Graduate Career Path Series:
- Prepare career-focused programming for JHBC graduate students. Perform other classification-related duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: Education:
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities shown above may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Experience:
- Equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of the practices, procedures and activities of the program to which assigned; general knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational and program management.
- General knowledge of research and interview techniques; and of the principles of individual and group behavior.
- Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations; use initiative and resourcefulness in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements; obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews; reason logically; collect, compile, analyze and evaluate data and make verbal or written presentations based on these data; advise students individually and in groups on routine matters where required; recognize multicultural, multisexed and multi-aged value systems and work accordingly; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, CSU administrators, student organizations, private and public agencies and others in committee work, and student advising and community contacts; and, rapidly acquire a general knowledge of the overall operation, functions and programs of the campus to which assigned.

Compensation and Benefits: Anticipated Hiring Range: $5,166 - $6,000 per month Classification Salary Range: $4,610 - $6,556 per month The salary offered will take into account internal equity and experience among other factors. The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 15 paid holidays a year. Position Information: Full-time Exempt Temporary (up to one year with the possibility of further renewal) Academic year schedule: Monday through Friday (8:00 am - 5:00 pm), some evenings/weekends. Summer schedule: Monday through Thursday (7:00 am - 5:30 pm), some evenings/weekends.
