Secondary Virtual ELD Support Teacher

We are searching for a passionate and skilled Online English Language Development (ELD) Teacher to empower English learners through engaging and effective online instruction. This role is focused on directly impacting student success during the intervention period, while also fostering a supportive virtual learning environment.

Pay: Starts at $30/hour but could potentially reach $35/hour based on specialties, certifications, and experience.

Education/Certification Requirements:

  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or University
  • Valid California Teaching Credential in designated subject area (Secondary Math)
  • Valid Preliminary or Clear Multiple Subject; or Single-Subject credential required
  • Valid CLAD or BCLAD or English Learner (EL) Certification required
  • Minimum of 3 years of classroom experience
  • Experience teaching remotely
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English

Responsibilites/Job Description:

* Must be available Tuesdays and Fridays 8am-12pm for virtual push-in support or Monday-Thursday between 4pm-8pm PST for after-school support (Availability during both times is ideal). *

  • Conduct engaging one-on-one and small group (up to 4) virtual instructional sessions via EOE's online portal
  • Connect with students during scheduled classroom intervention periods, supporting classroom teachers' objectives and students' individual learning plans
  • Teach ELD lessons to ELPAC level 1-4 English Learner (EL) students
  • Increase the academic performance of English learners by designing and implementing language acquisition instruction for ELL's through virtual support sessions
  • Engage in ongoing assessment of student progress using a variety of means, maintaining accurate records, and using assessment data to tailor instruction to individual student needs
  • Utilize student data provided by schools to create instructional plan for each student's individual needs
  • Communicate with site teachers by sharing progress of EL students, observing students and developing strategies to maximize growth and success
  • Attend monthly virtual collaboration with classroom teachers to ensure alignment and maximize student success
  • Develop lessons that incorporate multiple intelligences and prepare students for success on the ELPAC (English Language Proficiency Assessments for California) and align with district and school objectives
  • Connect with students after-school for scheduled homework support
