Job description
One of our manufacturing clients in Essex, ON is looking for a Controls Engineer for their facility.
Shift - Days/Afternoon
Responsibilities :
Assist in diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical equipment and controls, including PLC instrumentation and industrial applications.
Communicate the completion of tasks, project progress, and responsibilities to management and stakeholders.
Oversee allocated projects from inception to completion, ensuring the delivery of timely and budget-compliant outcomes.
Ensure adherence to Pre Start Health and Safety Reviews and project-related protocols.
Coordinate teams across functions for the development and installation of projects, documenting objectives, and addressing issues.
Develop and update documentation for electrical systems and maintenance.
Establish and uphold plant-wide control systems and communication strategies.
Provide explicit instructions to trades personnel, including contractors, regarding work scope and adherence to policies.
Recognize resource requirements and collaborate with managers to ensure timely project completion.
Address and resolve electrical and controls-related issues throughout the entire facility.
Fulfill any additional assigned duties as necessary.
Qualifications:
Successful completion of Electrician Trade Certification, a relevant College/University education, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in electrical controls, automation, or related positions.
Proficient in PLC and HMI programming. Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills, showcasing the ability to diagnose and address complex control system issues.
Experience in managing steam control/thermal processes and systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, motor control circuits, and cable splicing techniques.
Knowledgeable about safe work practices in confined spaces, working with heavy equipment, power tools, hand tools, and chemical systems.
Preferred previous experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
Excellent communication skills to proficiently convey technical information and effectively lead a team.
