Job description
Co-op Bioinformatics
We seek an innovative, collaborative, and enthusiastic intern-scientist to participate in the Computational Biology research team at BioNTech US. Our team aims to understand immune responses in cancer and infectious disease settings and find targets for novel vaccines and therapeutics. A successful candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment with teams of immunologists and molecular biologists to develop and support pipelines and analyses that help identify and validate targets for in-house T cell immunotherapies. At BioNTech US, we are at the cutting-edge of infectious disease and cancer immunotherapy research.
Responsibilities
- Developing and supporting pipelines and analyzing various single cell and bulk-omics data to support BioNTech's cellular and personalized neoantigen therapies.
- Investigation of new hypotheses and target concepts using public or in-house generated genomics and proteomics data
- Collaboration with diverse scientific teams (immunology, genetic editing and engineering) toward the goal of bringing enhanced cellular therapy into the clinic, with a focus on single cell functional genomic screens to discover perturbation targets and their phenotypic effects in our T cell products.
- Supporting projects in a multifunctional team setting
Requirements
- Pursuing an MS or PhD degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or related disciplines. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible.
- Proficiency coding in R, python, or equivalent languages.
- Must be able to work full-time (40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the assignment.
- Experience working with and analyzing single-cell omics data, e.g. scRNA-seq, sc-TCR, sc-ATAC-seq and/or CITE-seq.
- Experience with sc-CRISPR screening is a plus.
- Experience with analyzing proteomic datasets is a plus as well.
- Proficiency with Python or R but not limited to these programming languages.
- Experience working in a Linux environment and using cluster computing preferred.
- Experience working in a team environment with scientists of diverse backgrounds.
- An understanding of immunology, especially T cell biology, cancer biology, infectious diseases is a plus.
Additional Requirements
