Job description
Our client, a global leader which provides the security solutions to the retail environment, is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer capable of prototyping concepts quickly for engineering testing and for Voice-of-Customer feedback, to perform mechanical design for industrial or consumer product industries. BENEFITS: Salary Range: $75,000-$110,000/year DOE Medical Insurance 401K retirement savings plan Paid vacation/holidays Bonus potential Relocation assistance WHAT YOU’LL DO: The Mechanical Engineer (ME) will perform solid-modeling and drafting to develop new products from concept to production and support existing product lines. The ME leads projects from concept to manufacturing, making technical decisions to achieve project goals, creating 3D models, detail mechanical drawings, and developing BOMs using SolidWorks CAD. The ME will design complex components & assemblies with Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) in mind and provide engineering expertise for various mass production processes: injection molding, sheet metal forming, machining, extrusions, vacuum forming, and aluminum casting. Additionally, the ME will fabricate physical prototypes for proof of concept and testing as well as for obtaining Voice of Customer feedback; interface with multidisciplinary teams: Project management, Hardware, Software, Industrial design, Manufacturing (both domestic and international), and present mechanical design concepts to internal international project teams. BACKGROUND: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technologies 5+ years of mechanical design experience for industrial or consumer product industries Solid Modeling and drafting experience with CAD tools such as SolidWorks or Pro-E Experience creating technical documentation and maintaining revision control with a PDM tool Understanding of Analysis software tools (SolidWorks Simulation, Ansys, Mechanica) Strong understanding of materials and production methods like injection molding, sheet metal stamping, vacuum forming, extruding, aluminum casting, welding Strong understanding of design for manufacturing and design for assembly principles Ability to demonstrate fundamental engineering calculations: stress, thermal analysis and tolerance stack up Familiarity with Rapid Prototyping materials and techniques Hands-on prototyping and mechanical testing experience KEYWORDS: Mechanical, prototype, engineering, testing, DFM, injection molding, machining, sheet metal forming, aluminum casting, manufacturing, 3D models, drawings, BOMs, SolidWorks, CAD, DFMA, extrusions, vacuum forming, Solid Modeling, drafting, CAD, Pro-E, Simulation, Ansys, Mechanica, thermal analysis, Rapid Prototyping
