Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) supports the nation's second largest research program conducted among the VA Hospitals and is looking for a part-time Clinical Research Lab Assistant. The Lab Assistant position is located within a cardiovascular laboratory at Stanford University and the Palo alto VA Medical Center and calls for a highly motivated, intelligent, responsible, conscientious, and detail-oriented individual. The successful candidate must be a quick learner who enjoys acquiring new skills, advancing projects independently and collaboratively.

We are particularly interested to hear from candidates with a proven interest in several of the following areas: computational biology, Python, R, and statistics.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF A LAB ASSISTANT

• Assist with the analysis of single cell data;
• Assist in Python programming, R programming;
• Assist in developing programs to obtain data from iphones;
• Assist in computational modeling;
• Following and ensuring compliance with institutional and federal guidelines in health, safety and animal regulations;
• Preparing figures and protocols and learning computational techniques;
• Other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Required: Undergraduate student;
• 0-1 year undergraduate research experience;
• Preferred: Area of study in Biological Sciences, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Computer Science, or related discipline;
• More than 1 year research lab experience;
• Willingness to work with team members;
• Knowledge of Python, R, C++
• Strong organizational skills, work ethic, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines;
• Ability to work independently as well as with others as a team in a productive manner;
• Cover letter providing additional information and explaining your qualifications, interests, and career goals is desired .
