Job description

Houseparents are professionals interested in adolescent development and in the creation of programming that builds character and challenges growth. Residential life is a part of the Emma Willard program, and our houseparents are embed our program pillars into the residential experience. In the dormitories, houseparents use experiential learning to support and promote student growth with every interaction. Houseparents deliver the school’s life-skills curriculum through the READY program and guide students to reflect on authentic definitions of success and habits that cultivate a healthy life.

Houseparents work closely with the student leaders living on their hall. Houseparents are trained in teaching leadership to students and use that expertise to counsel and support our student dormitory leaders. In partnership, houseparents and student leaders build community and belonging for all students. 

Emma Willard School is a nationally recognized, academically rigorous, preparatory boarding and day high school. We seek someone who is committed to and willing to navigate today’s changing landscape. This leader will help the school promote and nurture an equitable and inclusive community. The school encourages candidates from under-represented groups to apply, as well as individuals who have demonstrated experience with diverse populations. This individual will contribute to the excellence of the academic community through their research, teaching, and/or service.

Salary

$16,000 - $20,000 prorated based on start date.
