Department/Position Details:
- Assists in reviewing and updating HIM policies and procedures.
- Monitors analysis of health records for accuracy, completeness and quality.
- Monitors medical provider deficiencies and suspension process.
- Provides input to implement efficiencies, improve workflows and processes through continuous quality improvement.
- Serves as subject expertise for all medical coding, medical transcription, and medical record related matters.
- Monitors and maintains team schedules; reviews and edits employee timecards.
- Monitors quality assurance, productivity and accuracy by performing regular audits and provides feedback to team.
- Assists and facilitates team weekly and monthly meetings.
- Coordinates training and updates area-training manuals as needed.
- Monitors workflow; capturing statistical data to track volumes and productivity of functional work area.
- Participates in continuing education curriculum, reading periodicals/literature and seeking ongoing development opportunities for team.
- Participates and attends meetings related to assigned projects.
- Monitors and provides timely and relevant daily, weekly, monthly and annual statistical and financial data to management.
- Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned for which competency has been demonstrated.
Position Requirements :
Education:
- Associate degree in Health Information or health-related field of study required.
- Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) preferred.
Experience:
- 1-2 years prior supervisory experience in a healthcare preferred.
- 1-3 years coding experience in any capacity preferred.
- Exceptional leadership skills with proven ability to build high performing and high functioning teams
Physical:
- This position is classified as Light Work in the Dictionary of Occupational Titles, requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly (66% of the time) to move objects. Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work.
