As a Senior Architect, you will report to the Architecture Studio and Project Design Executive.
What You Will Do
- We support the project lead architect under the leadership of the Design Manager, in collaboration with allied Design + Planning teams, Creative, Show/Ride, Design & Production and Operating partners!
- Prepare Facility/Attraction based information documentation (e.g. existing condition descriptions)
- Provide design documentation in the form of graphic illustration, imagery boards, color renderings, and research and documentation on assigned projects
- Perform technical tasks and documentation, including base sheets, construction details, plans/sections/elevations, design drafting, 3D visualization, and general project coordination
- Develop varied architectural project work at all stages of assigned projects from BlueSky, concept, feasibility, schematic design, design development, construction drawings and construction administration.
- Ensure that the design intent is achieved by integrating facility design with allied fields and components of the development such as: infrastructure, area development, grading/drainage, lighting, graphics, structural and MEP engineering, etc
- Prepare specific results including: base sheets, architectural designs, visual intrusion studies, material schedules, etc; ensures adherence to department/divisional Standards of Practice
- Provide thoughtful design, artistic skills and professional judgment in solving complex architectural problems!
- We support implementation of project goals/objectives through problem-solving and development of design solutions while ensuring alignment to department/divisional Standards of Practice
- Answer construction bid period questions and respond to and resolve field issues and questions
- We support the facility construction cost estimating process through collection of data for review; develop scopes of work and architectural soft cost design estimates for attraction level work
- Monitor performance against the project design schedule, budget and earned value. Provide design leadership for complex architectural projects ensuring that project design intent and implementation strategies are completed within established quality standards, schedule and budget
- Provide technical direction and mentorship to in-house architects/designers, and to outside consultants for construction contract documents
- We lead production of construction documents for attraction(s) of varied complexity through all phases of design
- Capable of supporting attraction level projects with a moderate to high level of complexity
- Work independently with supervision by a lead Architect, and able to thrive in a highly-collaborative, multi-disciplinary project team environment
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 6+ years of experience in architecture/design practice
- 2+ years managing a team of Architects and designers in the production of contract documents for construction
- Construction phase experience including the submittal/shop drawing review process and on-site field inspections
- Solid understanding and experience in the use of building materials and products for thematic applications
- Proficiency in CADD (Revit and/or AutoCad) and digital illustration tools such as Maya, Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, and SketchUp, Naviswork; skills in 3D software tools
- Knowledge of architecture design and construction techniques
- Technical and practical knowledge of related areas, including land planning, civil engineering, area development, lighting, graphic design etc
- Solid understanding of Disney theme parks and story telling through area development is highly preferred
Education
- Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Architecture degree from an accredited program
- An advanced degree in Architecture or Urban Planning is desired
- U.S. Professional License credential
- Membership in one or more professional organizations such as American Institute of Architects, Urban Land Institute, Construction Specifications Institute, or U.S. Green Building Council, is desired
This role is located in either Orlando, FL or Glendale, CA.

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA location is $102,000 - $136,700 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
