Job description

The Tax Preparer will prepare business tax returns as well as individual income tax returns for business owners under the guidance and supervision of an experienced certified public accountant and will consult with clients regarding income tax matters.

As the Tax Preparer you will:
- Review previous years tax returns and consult with clients as necessary to develop a basic understanding of the clients business and tax reporting issues.
- Review all supplied financial and income tax information for completeness and accuracy.
- Prepare income tax returns using tax preparation software (Drake Tax)
- Obtain information during client consultation in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Internal Revenue Code.
- Consult with the client and/or supervisor when questions arise, professional judgment is
- required, or reporting/classifying choices are required/available.
- Submit completed tax returns to supervisor for review.
- Consult with clients on tax planning issues, as necessary.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Your Tax Preparer experience includes:
- Experience as a Tax Preparer preparing corporate, partnership, and individual income tax returns.
- Comprehensive understanding of current income tax rules & regulations.
- Ability to understand and apply tax law in the tax preparation process.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (particularly Excel).
- Proficiency using Tax CRM (particularly Quickbooks or Drake Tax).
- Training/experience in bookkeeping and accounting.
