Job Description:

As a Per-Diem Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless execution of surgical procedures, adhering to the highest standards of safety and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as the scrub person for basic surgical procedures and contribute to complex surgical cases as required.
- Follow department procedures for assembling surgical packs, supplies, and instruments, preparing operating rooms, and ensuring operational readiness of instruments and equipment.
- Inspect instruments and power equipment, troubleshoot, report, and remove faulty items from service.
- Maintain adequate supplies and instrumentation in accordance with surgeon preferences, counting all instruments, needles, and sponges with a registered nurse as per procedure.
- Inventory and monitor instruments, sponges, and needles on the operative field, adjusting to changes in procedures and patient condition.
- -Assist in monitoring and reporting blood and fluid loss during cases.
- Anticipate surgeon's needs by draping patients, holding/passing instruments, retractors, sutures, administering medications, applying surgical dressings, suctioning, sponging wounds, holding extremities, and moving patients.
- Recognize and report emergency situations, adjusting priorities and participating in problem resolution.
- Assist in specimen identification, labeling, and proper disposition according to departmental procedures.
- Perform or assist in sterile preps, monitoring aseptic techniques, reporting and correcting breaks in sterile technique immediately, and controlling the location of contaminated instruments and supplies.
- Maintain appropriate quantities of surgical supplies and equipment, restocking rooms and notifying the supervisor of special requests.
- Assist with decontamination of equipment, instruments, and supplies, and contribute to room cleaning according to established procedures.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:
- Associate's degree in surgical technology from an accredited school or two (2) years of experience in a directly related area
- Valid state Surgical Technologist license/certification
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR or CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
