Position Summary

Our dental segment, HuFriedyGroup, enables dental professionals to reduce risk, improve efficiencies, drive compliance, and enhance patient and staff safety. We are seeking an Engineering Intern at our Chicago Manufacturing Facility. This role will provide a foundation for applying theory from the classroom to hands-on practice application in a manufacturing environment. The Engineering Intern will have exposure to engineering and provide engineering and lab testing support for new and existing products as well as support manufacturing processes. The role will also provide support to the engineers and engineering manager from prototype to full production including testing, manufacturing improvements, maintaining necessary documentation, etc. 

Duties

• Work closely with engineers during R&D of new products, product line improvements, or additions
• Work with manufacturing and engineering to improve existing manufacturing processes and controls
• Perform research and lab testing on new materials and existing product. Set up test fixtures, conduct testes based on written protocol. Ensure testing requirements during testing process are meeting data collection integrity and maintain test specimens and appropriate documentation of test results
• Maintain engineering documentation
• Provide detailed support in fixture set-up and qualification, interacting with manufacturing for production implementation as directed
• Conduct investigation of dental product related issues as directed
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment

Required Experience

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Enrolled in an engineering program and have completed sophomore requirements by May 2024
• Any experience in AutoCAD or another CAD software is a plus
