University Relations and Marketing is seeking an Integrated Marketing and Communications Director for Research. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE ), 12-month, professional faculty position.

Reporting to the Vice President of University Relations & Marketing with a dotted line to the Vice President for Research, the Integrated Marketing and Communications Director for Research works with OSU Research Office leaders to develop and execute comprehensive marketing and communications plans to create awareness, advance reputation and grow innovation impact broadly, and research funding and expenditures across the university, particularly in four transdisciplinary areas prioritized for investment and growth: climate science, clean energy, robotics, and integrated health and biotechnology.

As we build these four target areas, the Integrated Marketing and Communications Director will lead a coordinated effort to create statewide, national and international awareness and distinction for Oregon State's current and emerging assets, including those associated with research specializations across 11 academic colleges; the future Jen-Hsun and Lori Huang Collaborative Innovation Complex; PRAx, the Patricia Valian Reser Center for the Creative Arts; centers and institutes such as the Linus Pauling Institute, PacWave and the world-renowned Hatfield Marine Science Center; OSU -Cascades; research and innovation strengths in areas such as semiconductors and mass timber; and our location in the ecologically and socioeconomically diverse Pacific Northwest. The Integrated Marketing and Communications Director will direct compelling storytelling that highlights OSU's multidisciplinary approach in each area, bringing together the expertise of scientists, artists, engineers, humanists and social scientists.

As part of University Relations and Marketing ( URM ) and with access to expertise, capabilities and channels within URM , this position acts as a key leader, consultant and advisor to administrators, faculty, students and staff on marketing and communications best practices, engagement strategies, consumer awareness, earned media, thought leadership, sponsorships, and digital and social media. With excellent facilitative leadership and project management skills, the position directs enterprise-wide marketing and communications campaigns, and regularly monitors integrated marketing communication plans and tactics to ensure maximum effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications (Staff) / Guidelines (Faculty):

Typically requries Bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism or related field.
5 years' experience as professional journalist or managing a communications and marketing department.

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.

Type:

This position is eligible for a Hybrid working arrangement, conditions to be approved by the supervisor.

Additional Salary Information: Salary is commensurate with skills, education and experience.
