MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting and one (1) year of professional accounting or auditing experience; or

 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a business major and 24 semester hours of upper-level accounting coursework; or

 

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting.

JOB DUTIES:

 

Audits and prepares journal vouchers for payment of department invoices. This process includes verifying the existence of appropriate documentation, signatures, and account codes before processing through FLAIR.

 

Works with management to motivate and train employees in the proper application of procedures to be used in conjunction with the level of work being performed.

 

Assists the Accounting Services Administrator in the assignment of various projects, outlines the specifications of assigned projects, maintains comprehensive oversight of work performed and reviews the final work documentations.

 

Works with management in analyzing and reviewing Planning Accounting and Ledger Management (PALMS) business processes.

 

Performs complex reconciliations of agency account balances to statewide accounting records. This requires an advanced analytical aptitude as well as the ability to use spreadsheet and database applications to efficiently analyze large amounts of accounting data.

 

Processes all payments with correct journal transaction date to assure compliance with Section 215.422, Florida Statutes-Prompt Payment Law.

 

Records into FLAIR encumbrances of office and field purchase orders; reconciles office and field purchase orders monthly.

 

Prepares special reports that enable the department to manage appropriations and projects more efficiently. To tailor reporting to department’s needs, this position requires both extensive accounting expertise and dedication to the Division of Administration customer service initiative.

 

Responsible for accurate and timely processing of the department’s fuel bill, settlement agreements, monthly and quarterly lease payments, and FLEET charges. Also, assists with processing P-Card as needed.

 

Processes correct journal entries for expense vouchers returned by the State Comptroller to ensure correct department accounting records. Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
