Job description

This position is in support of the NASA Ames Research Center (ARC), whose primary focus is on research and development (R&D) including fundamental scientific research, concept development, prototype testing, and new technology creation. ARC performs R&D in support of NASA missions in collaboration with other NASA centers, academia, other federal organizations, not-for-profit organizations, and industry partners. Successful candidates will support success of NASA and ARC mission and goals in aeronautics, science, space technology, and human exploration in partnership with leading edge technical and research expertise from both student and faculty researchers.

This work is directly supporting NASA Academic Mission Services-2 (NAMS-2) which will provide the Aeronautics Directorate and the Exploration Technology Directorate of NASA ARC with capabilities to fulfill mission requirements from fundamental R&D through field-test deployments and operational missions. NAMS-2 includes a broad scope of evolving research, including the development of new and emerging capabilities and technologies. Projects include scientific research associated with air traffic management, advanced technology, nanoelectronics, and prototype software. This team will help meet aeronautics and technology mission objectives, particularly the improvement of aircraft and airspace safety as well as the transition of advanced aeronautics technologies into future air vehicles.

JOB DESCRIPTION

•Develop principles to adapt to user requirements and improve the software based on user feedback.
•Manages and tracks software development tasks through regular team tag ups and with the JIRA tracking tool.
•New features and bug fixes are logged as JIRA issues for resolution by the software team.
•The engineer audits the JIRA issues to ensure that proper levels of details are included for use in documentation such as software release notes and for the testers of the software.
•Perform testing, integration and deployment tasks for collaboration demonstrations
•Summarize data collection from demonstration.
•Creates or updates scripts to set up the automated software builds for the collaboration demonstration system.

REQUIREMENTS

•Requires a bachelor's or Master's degree of engineering, Data Science, Human Factors Engineering, Computer Science or related degree.
•Minimum 2 to 5+ years of related experience. Experience with Python, Matlab, Python data science packages, visualization tools, Java, C/C++, Linux.
•Experience with predictive analytics techniques, data mining, text analytics and predictive modeling.
•Expertise in software architecture, object-oriented design unit testing required.
•Experience with Atlassian tools Confluence, JIRA, cloud computing and AWS.

Experience will determine level I, II, or III.
