Job description

This position involves a full-time high school teaching position primarily teaching Spanish classes at some combination of levels 1-2. This position begins immediately, and continues for the remainder of the 2023-24 school year.
Specific duties include:
- Instructing students in subject content along with reading and grading student work
- Demonstrating a high level of responsiveness to students
- Serving as an adviser to a group of upper school students
- Experience with proficiency-based instruction in an immersive environment preferred
- Managing student behavior in a manner that optimizes the learning environment
- Maintain regular communication with students and their parents regarding progress
- Working cooperatively with other grade-level teachers to implement common course syllabi and assessments
Required Skills:
- Have a working knowledge and experience teaching high school Spanish
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrating tact and diplomacy
- Ability to leverage technology, including but not limited to, Microsoft Office, Google apps, language lab software and interactive whiteboard technology
- A solid understanding of learning challenges as well as the accommodations and differentiated learning techniques to support such
- Strong organizational and classroom management skills
Minimum Job Qualifications:
- Undergraduate degree in Spanish or Foreign Language Education from an accredited institution of higher learning; master’s degree in Spanish or education preferred; native or near-native fluency in Spanish
- 3+ years of successful teaching high school Spanish preferred
- Independent school experience preferred, but not required
The Spanish Teacher, Upper School position is a full-time employment position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Substantial benefits are available.
