Summary/Objective:The Engineering Project Manager will manage projects by organizing and controlling project elements managing several projects in parallel which can vary in size and complexity.  

Essential Functions/ Responsibilities: 

  1. Responsible for all aspects of project management on assigned projects working with a global, multidisciplinary team.
  2. Develop project objectives by reviewing proposals and plans while conferring with management.
  3. Consult with management and other stakeholders to determine feasibility, effectiveness, and priority.
  4. Determine responsibilities of project phases and elements and assign personnel.
  5. Generate schedules by studying project specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
  6. Maintain schedules by coordinating activities, providing accountability, and resolving problems.
  7. Provide accurate and timely information supporting quality decision making across and at all levels of the organization.
  8. Manage the process related to review and release of project deliverables.
  9. Advise management of new developments which may affect schedule, costs, customer and/or inter-departmental relations.
  10. Responsible for scheduling, facilitating and documenting project team meetings which may occur outside of traditional business hours.
  11. Scheduling and facilitating gate reviews by working with department stakeholders and subject matter experts to ensure gate review criteria are met and documentation is complete.
  12. Administer project management within the Samtec Project Tracking Software.
  13. Occasional travel to related facilities for training or facilitating project activities.

Required/Preferred Experience: 

  1. Two or more years of experience leading technical projects is required.
  2. Background in optical, mechanical, electrical technologies or similar is required.
  3. Strong technical, interpersonal, verbal/written communication skills is required.
  4. Must have a proven track record of successful project delivery, delivering multiple projects simultaneously while balancing priority.
  5. Proficient use of Microsoft Office and collaboration tools such as Teams, Zoom, or similar is required.
  6. Demonstrated problem solving and risk identification/mitigation skills.
  7. Experience in product design, development, and release to production is preferred.
  8. Familiarity with electronics manufacturing processes such as stamping, molding, plating, soldering, and assembly is desired.
  9. Experience using project management tools such as Microsoft Project or similar to drive activity and report progress.
  10. Ability to lead a multidisciplinary team with members located in both the same facility and off-site.
  11. Strong organizational skills

Preferred Education: 

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  2. Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering is preferred.
