Job description
The Information Technology Network Administrator is responsible for implementing and maintaining the corporate network infrastructure, IT security configuration, monitoring and enforcement, and end user network support.
C orporate network infrastructure and other telecommunications
- Configures corporate network architecture to meet company specific goals
- Installs and configures key network hardware (switches, routers, firewalls etc.)
- Investigates and solves various network issues that impact end user performance and production performance to reduce downtime of critical business applications
- Maintains and configures the telecommunications network (VoIP telephone system and network integration)
- Maintains knowledge and understanding of network architecture and concepts
- Provides consulting to other departments and subsidiaries on design and implementation of network based projects central to their department needs
- Designs and performs various network upgrades including projects involving cooperation from ISP (Internet Service Provider)
- Maintains and supports the wireless network infrastructure in RDC (Redistribution Center)
- Maps and documents network architecture
- Monitors and troubleshoots wide area network issues between Mobis and outside companies
- Monitors and analyzes network traffic statistics to identify performance issues
- Maintains monthly service charges for network based services (e.g. Mobis access to the global/MPLS network)
IT security configuration, monitoring, and enforcement
- Installs and maintains network security systems that monitor and protect the corporate network from threats
- Provides an immediate response to internal network threats including suspending service and responding directly to security violators
- Manages and troubleshoots VPN access for internal employees and remote subsidiary sites
- Administers the Network access Control System to block unauthorized attempts to access the Mobis network
- Administers web filters to block and log access to dangerous and prohibited web sites
- Manage and filter internal user access, visitor access, and temporary/contractor access to internal resources
- Manages Symatec Endpoint Protection Security and internal users rights (USB, CD, Video Conferencing)
End User Support:
- Provides support for PDAs, barcode scanners, and label printers
- Interfaces with HQ to resolve large scale service issues and outages of the RDC program infrastructure
- Manages end-user computing resources
- Configures base user computer configurations of minimum software necessary for company duties
- Installs and troubleshoots various software platforms (Microsoft Office, video conferencing etc.)
- Install and troubleshoot computing hardware and software
- Provides IT system training and new user orientation
- Performs physical labor involving network and server rack changes and cable installations
- Maintains multiple vendor relationships to improve cost savings company-wide
- Suggests, researches, and purchases the most cost effective hardware to support the IT infrastructure
- Manages and trains the PC support staff to administer helpdesk functions
Preferred Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Management, Information Systems Management, Computer Science, or related discipline
- At least two years of Network Architecture/Administrator experience
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Understanding of TCP/IP and LAN/WAN networking principles for wired and wireless technologies
- Knowledge of Cisco hardware and network operating system configuration (IOS, IOS-XE, etc.)
- Knowledge of routing protocols including EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP
- Knowledge of other network protocols including STP, ARP, HSRP, etc.
- Basic understanding of security technologies and concepts including firewalls, IPS, and VPNs
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems including installation and maintenance
- Knowledge of computer and server hardware
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Education & Experience:
Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certification
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations: None required
Working Hours and Conditions:
- Work hours: 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M.
- 60% office work; 40% walking and standing on the production floor
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
