Pharmacy Technician
SITE OF SERVICE:
POSITION QUALIFICATION/REQUIREMENTS: - Education: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) diploma.
- Experience: Possess a minimum of one year’s experience within the last two years working as a full-time Pharmacy technician.
- Additional Certificate: Have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through The American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- U.S. Citizenship: HCWs performing under this contract shall be U.S. citizens.
- English Language Requirement: The Contractor shall ensure that all HCWs providing services under this contract are able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate.
- HCW Physical Capability: HCWs shall be physically capable of standing and/or sitting for extended periods of time and physically capable of performing all services required.
CORE DUTIES: - Perform the following functions, within the scope of accepted Pharmacy Technician practices. These shall be essentially the same duties as those required of any Medical Corps personnel or Government civil service provider of similar experience and in similar duty assignments.
- Receive and process orders for prescriptions. Screen orders and prescriptions for accuracy, appropriateness, and conformity to laws and regulations.
- Receive and review prescriptions for pharmaceuticals. Determine type of substance, strength, dosage, and quantity to be dispensed in accordance with accepted practice and pharmacy standing operating procedures (SOPs). Coordinate with HCP and Pharmacist to clarify issues or problems with dosing, interactions, or instructions.
HOURS: - Hours are approximately 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday with the possibility of weekend days if ever needed
- This position requires flexibility
- Shifts are generally scheduled for an 8.5 or 9-hour period with an uncompensated 30 to 60 minute meal break, respectively.
- In no instance shall the HCWs provide services in excess of 80 hours per 2-week period.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Must be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Must be able and willing to reprioritize on short notice and work on multiple simultaneous projects. Flexible and able to work with various personalities. Team work skills required. Time management skills required. The ability to meet deadlines in a deadline intensive environment is essential. High level of adaptability and willingness to embrace change in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
