Machine Shop Team Leader

Conducting business from three sites in the United Kingdom, They offer specialist services for in excess of 5,000 components over a variety of aircraft systems with capabilities covering aircraft windings, electrical power, hydraulic components, landing gear and safety equipment. In 2007 part of the business was acquired resulting in today's growth and the current company being a global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices as a unit within my clients Aerospace and Defense Division, a recognised global provider of third-party MRO services to commercial, regional, and general aviation customers as well as military, helicopter and business jet markets.

Your Roles & Responsibilities

Day-to-day team management of the Machine Shop and Bush Fit sections.

Supervising all departments within the Machine Shop Boring, Turning, Grinding and Bush Fit/CNC Fabrication.

Plan and schedule MPBU workload in line with the site production schedule, through Quantum ERP system.

Maintain and ensure implementation of all standard operating practices and procedures.

Train, motivate and performance manage staff; complete performance reviews, identify training and development opportunities for team members. Manage first level discipline and grievance issues for team members.

Maintain the function of plant and equipment to include machine maintenance (preventative and scheduled).

Comply with health, safety and environmental regulations.

Maintain and monitor stock levels of machine shop consumables.

Co-ordinate the efficient use and organisation of resources and equipment to meet the production schedule.

Plan for and support the implementation of new product development initiatives.

Ensure component work is undertaken in accordance with procedures from CMM's and overhaul manuals.

Liaise with the customer support team to facilitate achievement of efficient and effective customer service levels.

Experience required

Prior experience in a production workshop environment

Prior experience of leading teams

Rota Management

Manual Machinist experience

Computer literate

An ability to work to tight deadlines is essential, whilst maintaining a high degree of quality, and compliance.

Customer focused and able to build and maintain robust customer relationships

Able to manage and develop a team in a demanding, customer focused working environment
