Job description
Job Title: System Administrator
Background/Need
Communication Systems and Cyber Security Division to support G62 Advanced RF Techniques and System. You will assist with development of new technologies that enable worldwide networked operations for the military and other government agencies. The division addresses the needs of next-generation satellite, airborne, and terrestrial networks using its core expertise in radio frequency (RF), fiber and free-space optics, cyber security, network protocols and services, information operations, communications processing, and speech and language technologies. The division is extensively involved in field experimentation and measurement campaigns to verify algorithms and architectural concepts in operational environments.
Major Responsibilities:
Install, update, and troubleshoot systems/servers.
Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures.
Plan, execute, and verify data redundancy and system recovery procedures.
Conduct periodic system maintenance including cleaning (both physically and electronically), disk checks, routine reboots, data dumps, and testing.
Provide ongoing optimization and problem-solving support
Must Have:
Hands-on System Administration experience with Linux and Windows. Candidates need to have experience supporting both Windows and Linux environments.
A minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience
Experience with scripting languages like Powershell, Bash, or Ansible.
BS in a related field or equivalent Military or other government service accepted
Strong customer facing skills/experience
Able to diagnose and perform repairs on faulty system/server hardware.
Nice to Have:
Security+ is a plus; if the candidate does not have this certification currently, then they must be willing to obtain within the first 3-6 months
Experience managing system/server resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability.
Experience managing classified IT systems, STIGs, SCAPS, RMF
Mac experience
Experience with virtual machines. (e.g., Microsoft Hyper-V, VMWare vSphere, Citrix XenDesktop/Server, Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud, etc.).
Network administration experience is also desirable which includes managing data center and small network configurations: switches, routers, firewalls, modern software management and monitoring tools, some knowledge of automation technique.
Experience maintaining directory services. (e.g., Microsoft Active Directory, LDAP, etc.).
Interim Secret is acceptable for start, but Active Secret Clearance strongly preferred
Education & Experience: Bachelor' s plus 2+ Years of relevant work experience.
Work Authorization: US Citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
