Position Title Postdoctoral Research Scientist FLSA Exempt Department Department Of Chemistry Job Summary Xavier University of Louisiana is accepting applications for the position of Postdoctoral Scholar. This position is available immediately in MICHESS (Materials and Interface Center for High Energy Storage and Sensing), Department of Chemistry. The project involves synthesis, characterization, and evaluation of cathode materials using physical and electrochemical measurement techniques; investigation of the electrical conductivity (ionic and electronic) using AC impedance measurements; establishing the structure-property relationship; and studies of interfacial kinetics between the electrode and composite polymer electrolyte. The MICHESS is equipped with all the necessary equipment such as gloveboxes, Arbin battery tester, X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, chemical vapor deposition, dual magnetron sputtering system, high field NMR, and three Gamry potentiostats, including charge-discharge and impedance capabilities. AA/EOE Minimum Qualifications Experience in Lithium-ion batteries Preferred Qualifications Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or Physics. Special Requirements Summary Work Hours Full time KSA's Knowledge, Education, Experience, and Proficiencies Knowledge of Lithium-ion batteries Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties and Responsibilities Description The individual will work closely with a team of scientists including students to synthesize cathode materials. The candidate will develop high-performance lithium-ion batteries, plan and conduct research, supervise undergraduate students, prepare manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed publications, and prepare reports and papers for group meetings. Other responsibilities include developing and maintaining laboratory equipment and facilities.
