What you will do
The Senior Legal Operations Manager, Budget and Resource Management, will oversee the development and management of the annual Legal function resource planning and budget alignment; and will support the strategic planning process. This role will ensure responsible spending and strategic alignment with key stakeholders while driving projects on a global scale, managing organizational initiatives, and supporting the outside counsel management program. This role will play a critical role in optimizing spend, fostering diversity initiatives, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the Legal function through effective financial stewardship and project management expertise. This role will be expected to make financial recommendations to leadership that support the overall objectives of the Legal function as well as the business we support.
This is a remote role in the US, and it requires a 10% of travel to domestic destinations.
Budget Development and Oversight
Oversee development and management of annual Legal function budget, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with Department strategic goals.
Includes review and communication regarding quarterly forecasting, issue-spotting, and all related internal Department reporting.
Support Deputy General Counsel with high-level annual budget and forecasting needs.
Expense development and headcount rationalization and prioritization.
Support strategic decisions regarding expense spend
Internal and External Spend Reporting
Collaborate with stakeholders and Finance partners regarding regular spend analyses and projections monthly, providing insights into budget variances, spending trends, and areas for optimization.
Collaborate with Finance to generate comprehensive financial analysis for Legal leadership, highlighting key financial metrics and performance indicators.
Collaboration with Stakeholders
Collaborate with Financial, Planning & Analysis business partners, human resources, Legal leadership, Global Legal Operations, and Compliance partners to ensure alignment regarding strategic priorities and internal budget and spend, including long-range financial planning.
Collaborate with the Director of Spend and Matter Management to align and report on both internal and external (vendor) spend.
Headcount Management
Collaborate with human resources to maintain and track current and projected headcount on a regular basis.
Ensure alignment of headcount planning with budgetary constraints and strategic objectives.
Project Support and Savings Initiatives
Support Global Legal Operations projects related to spend and savings, including initiatives tied to panel-related spend and diversity spend, and supporting the broader vendor management program.
Drive efficiency improvements and cost-saving measures within the Global Legal Operations function.
Collaborate with cross-functional managers to define Global Legal Operations project budgets.
E-Billing System Enhancement:
Collaborate with Global Legal Operations on assessing and implementing improvements to the e-Billing system, particularly in relation to budgets, accruals, and spend reporting.
What you need
Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, finance, or related field.
MBA preferred
10+ years of work experience required.
Experience with corporate budgeting and reporting processes is required.
Experience with Global Legal Operations finance matters (both internal and external spend) preferred.
$145,700 – $246,900 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
