Job Description:

We are looking for motivated individuals to fill our harvest lab technician intern position. Mark Ryan Winery is a family owned and operated winery located in beautiful Walla Walla Washington. The interns who work with us during harvest have an excellent opportunity to gain firsthand experience in both the lab and the cellar, be part of a talented team, and work in a positive environment. The position is fluid and offers a broad range of training in various lab and cellar tasks. We work with several different grape varieties farmed by incredible wine growers in fantastic vineyards located across Washington state. Lunch and snacks are provided. Time and half overtime pay when working over 40 hours in one week. Free housing is also available while rooms remain open in our harvest house.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•  Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
•  Be self-motivated, collaborative, and dependable.
•  Be able to lift 50 pounds and work 10+ hours per day on your feet.
•  Willing to work weekends and overtime during the dynamic harvest season.
•  Have a basic understanding of wine science and wine laboratory procedures.

DAILY FUNCTIONS
•  Daily lab work monitoring the chemistry of juices, musts, and wines, (Brix, pH, TA, etc.)
•  Inoculating (yeast and malolactic bacteria) and making accurate fermentation additions.
•  Perform daily tasks including cap management, wine movement, fermentation rounds.
•  Cleaning and sanitation of crush equipment and winery facilities.
•  Vineyard sampling.
•  Various other duties as assigned by winemaking team.

Compensation:
$20.00-$26.00 per hour. Time and a half when working over 40 hours in one week.
