JOB SUMMARY
The Education Director provides leadership within its department and vision to SCRAP Creative Reuse and the mission.
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary National Education Director to lead the development and implementation of educational initiatives on a national scale. The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional leadership and strategic planning skills, along with a deep understanding of the current educational landscape. The National Education Director will be responsible for designing and executing innovative educational programs, fostering strategic partnerships, and advocating for the advancement of creative reuse education at the national level.

Responsibilities :
- Develop and execute a comprehensive national educational strategy that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
- Lead and supervise a team of regional education coordinators and specialists, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure the successful implementation and sustainability of educational initiatives.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to design and implement effective educational programs, curriculum frameworks, and teaching methodologies that foster holistic learning and development.
- Identify and leverage technological advancements and innovative educational tools to enhance the quality and accessibility of educational programs and services.
- Foster strategic partnerships with governmental bodies, educational institutions, and community organizations to promote collaboration and resource-sharing, advancing the organization's educational objectives and initiatives.
- Oversee the development of educational policies and standards, ensuring compliance with national regulatory requirements and best practices in the education sector.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of educational programs, conducting regular assessments, and utilizing data-driven insights to identify areas for improvement and ensure the continuous enhancement of the educational curriculum and delivery methods.
- Develop and manage the department's budget, allocating resources effectively, and optimizing financial performance to support the sustainability and growth of educational initiatives.
- Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning within the education department, encouraging creativity and professional development among staff members and educators.
- Represent the organization at national and international educational conferences, seminars, and industry events, advocating for educational reforms and promoting the organization's educational vision and impact.
Education Oversight – with Executive Leadership
- Develop and manage for the national organization and sites; educational programming, apps/social media, and messaging
- Assist Executive Leadership in meetings and plans with the Site Directors
- Develop yearly budget forecasts for educational programming, with the assistance of Executive Leadership, Finance Coordinator, and the Board Finance Committee
- Assist and lead in ‘mission-oriented’ work to inspire creative reuse and behavior change
- Special projects as needed and assigned by Executive Leadership
- Visit three locations annually for a four-day excursion.
Education Administration
- Manage and coordinate all educational programming at the national and site level, and oversees educational reporting and educational staff development
- Develop standardization for National and Local core educational programming materials, curriculum, lesson plans, SCRAP Kits, and price structures
- Oversee development and/or maintenance of handbooks and manuals:
- Brand Book / Design Book
- Education Handbook
- Quick view School Year Calendar
- Others as developed
- Works with Executive Leadership to compile monthly KPI reports
- Attends Board meetings when needed
- Oversees and manages National Network events (e.g. Annual Summit, Strategic Alliance, Creative Reuse Consulting) - with Executive Leadership
- Oversee, manage, and provide educational programs at sites as needed
- Assists with website messaging and updates
- Willingness to travel intermittently to sites in Virginia, Maryland, Michigan, and Oregon, as needed.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s or equivalent work experience in education, leadership, or a related field.
- Proven experience in educational leadership, with a minimum of 2-5 years of progressively responsible roles in the education sector.
- Strong knowledge of educational and environmental trends, policies, and best practices, with a demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative programs and strategies.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team of educators and stakeholders toward achieving common educational goals.
- Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining strategic partnerships with governmental agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations.
- Proficiency in budget management and financial planning, with a strong understanding of resource allocation and revenue generation in the education sector.
- A track record of driving educational excellence and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within educational organizations or institutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen eye for detail and the capacity to make data-driven decisions to improve educational outcomes.
- Must have a passion for SCRAP Creative Reuses mission and understand the creative reuse sector
Bonus
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Microsoft Suite a bonus
- Working knowledge of Square, Shopify and Canva preferred or a willingness to learn
- Marketing and/or graphic design experience a bonus

Work as part of a team with other staff, volunteers, and programs to fulfill SCRAP’s mission; communicate effectively and focus on good stakeholder relations; greet stakeholders professionally, warmly and helpfully; stay current with the environmental services community and sources of information and referrals for callers and customers; stay current with developments in reuse and recycling, including legislation and availability of recyclable materials markets; when necessary, say “no” tactfully and suggest other community resources to meet appropriate needs; and is an ambassador for SCRAP in the community.
