We are currently recruiting for Physicians at Central Regional Hospital (CRH). The major responsibility of the Physician is to assure optimum patient care and medical management of patients at Central Regional Hospital. Job responsibilities include the following:

The Medical Division MDs/PAs/NPs provide care to the CRH and Whitaker PRTF psychiatric population for acute, chronic and emergency medical conditions. The patient population is ages 5 years to advanced age geriatric. This care is provided in an accredited, state of the art psychiatric facility with a Medical Psychiatric Unit, Lab, Radiology, PT, OT, Speech Language, Dental and Neurology on site services.


Additional responsibilities include occupational health, NP/PA supervision and teaching/mentoring of UNC PGY-1 trainees. CRH has ACCME accreditation and many hours of medical and psychiatric CME provided on site. This position reports to the Medical Director of Medical Services and works collaboratively with Psychiatrist, Nurses, Social Workers and many other disciplines involved in the delivery of our patient centered treatment and recovery services.

These are full-time positions and eligible for the full State benefits package including health insurance and retirement. The normal working hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and rotating call; however, flexibility is required to meet hospital needs. The position is designated as Mandatory and must report or stay over during adverse weather events.

**Eligibility for Sign-on Bonus (effective August 8, 2022)

Qualified applicants must be selected from the candidate pool of this posting and meet the State policy following requirements:

A newly hired permanent full time or permanent part-time employee who works 30 to 40 hours per week is eligible for a sign-on bonus (this will be prorated for employees working less than 40 hours per week).

An employee is not eligible for a sign-on bonus if:
(1) the employee has held a position in North Carolina State government, including the judicial system, or the University of North Carolina system within the last 12 months (the employee shall remain ineligible for 12 months from the separation date);
(2) the employee has previously received a sign-on bonus from any State agency;
(3) or DHHS has paid any contract placement or recruitment fees.
