Mission and Culture The Department of Natural Resources’ (DNR) mission is to develop, conserve, and enhance natural resources for present and future Alaskans. The DNR IT Services team supports this mission by providing an outstanding service delivery support framework for the agency so that it can meet its mission goals and work initiatives across Alaska. Staff are supportive of one another, and we work towards collaborative and creative solutions to work challenges.
Core Responsibilities The DNR IT Services team is looking for innovative ways to deliver IT services to department staff. We are constantly evolving and learning new technologies that better reduce service complexities and make the team more efficient in its day-to-day operations. As a member of the service team, you will be expected to learn our support processes and organize them in such a way that you can meet DNR service goals and expectations.
This position is ideal for someone wanting to advance in their IT career. The successful candidate will work closely with IT managers, specialists, and technicians in developing a procedures knowledge base and troubleshooting a variety of issues that hone in on resolution processes. This position studies and practices the fundamentals of supporting microcomputers, enterprise cloud services, peripherals, and basic network design and installation. Good communication skills for translating technical jargon to non-technical users and contacts are a needed skill.
Fully proficient ability in providing technical support that includes installing and maintaining microcomputer systems and images, provisioning new equipment, troubleshooting and resolving PC hardware and software issues, installing and troubleshooting peripheral equipment, overseeing and assisting trainee technicians, and documenting/tracking resolutions through an online ticketing system. is required for this position.

The Working Environment You Can Expect While some of the work can be performed via telework within the state of Alaska, many of the duties call for being present in the office. Our offices are located in Anchorage (Robert B. Atwood Building).
Who We Are Looking For To receive an interview, you need to demonstrate the following desired knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience
within your application profile :
- Experienced with modern PC (Desktop and Laptop) hardware support methods and troubleshooting.
- Experience supporting and troubleshooting MS Windows 10 and Windows 11 operating systems.
- Experience with end point management software (MECM, SCCM, Ivanti).
- Experience with microcomputer peripherals (printers, tablets, cell phones).
- Experience tracking tasks and projects utilizing a service desk ticketing software.
- Attention to detail while organizing and prioritizing tasks is essential to this position.

- Technical Problem Solving: Troubleshoots, diagnoses, analyzes, and identifies system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem.

Training or experience in some combination of providing customer service response, diagnosis, resolution, and/or escalation of end-user issues with information technology hardware and applications; installing new computers, printers, and other peripheral devices; and/or loading and troubleshooting software and hardware systems, maintaining security software, and configuring network settings for workstations.
