Job description
George Fox University's growing and vibrant digital innovation team, called "George Fox Digital" (GFD), is in search of a Digital Assessment Specialist to join them and help the organization measure learning and student experience for their courses.
About the Job:
As an integral part of our learning design team, the one who holds this position will support the team in the critical task of thinking about how students are interacting with our digital courses: Learn why students take these courses, gather and present data on how, when, and why, as well as what circumstances students learn well in these courses, and explore how we can continually improve our courses to fulfill the mission of George Fox University. In addition to supporting traditional academic offerings, the Specialist will support other educational products such as non-degree certificate programs, corporate education initiatives, and in-house digital products for our university.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assessing the design and learning experience of all George Fox Digital courses (traditional undergraduate, graduate, adult degree program, and non-degree courses), ensuring consistency of high-quality student learning by performing analysis within the GFD design team and in collaboration with data analysts, marketing staff, learning support services, faculty, the GFD Student Support Specialist, and others who survey student feedback.
- Working with the GFD Director of Digital Learning to ensure GFD courses are in line with GFU and NWCCU accreditation practices and standards and to ensure learning outcomes are met. In particular, to ensure that GFD fulfills the GFU promise that all students will "Be Known" at our university-even in digital environments.
- Helping the Vice President of George Fox Digital discuss the progress of the GFD initiative with the broader GFU community through data analysis, developing case studies, producing surveys and interviews with stakeholders, and other internal and external measures that will help our community know about the progress made toward effective learning in GFD environments.
- Maintaining a presence in a campus office to offer in-person support to GFD personnel and interdepartmental collaborators.
- Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
- By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
- Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc. and works well with a variety of people.
- Other duties as assigned.
We're looking for candidates who have:
- An advanced degree or demonstrate substantive experience in educational assessment, particularly in digital environments.
- Experience or a working knowledge in conducting or contributing to research that tests the efficacy of learning methodologies, online course design, and innovative academic and lifelong learning outcomes.
- A working knowledge of educational assessment and core technologies that are deployed in the creation of online learning materials.
- The ability to work as part of a team, operating independently on long-term and short-term projects at the direction of the Director of Digital Learning and VP of GFD.
- An understanding of and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and address accessibility issues with regard to digital learning environments.
- A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.
