Full-time: Kimberley Park Elementary, Hall-Woodward Elementary, Petree Elementary, Forest Park Elementary, South Fork Elementary, Lowrance Middle, North Hills Elementary, Sedge Garden Elementary, Union Cross Elementary (80%), Smith Farm Elementary.

Part-time: Southwest Elementary

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE

The purpose of this position is to assist students with special communicative needs to reach the maximum communication possible. Position is responsible for assisting identified speech-language delayed/impaired students to achieve their communicative potential both receptively through listening comprehension and/or expressively through oral expression.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Conducts screening and testing, obtains diagnostic information, analyzes information, and makes recommendations regarding programs and services.
• Develops individual education plans for each speech-language eligible child in collaboration with the classroom teacher, parent, and other pertinent professionals.
• Plans therapy and uses appropriate diagnostic tools and therapy techniques to support the curriculum.
• Provides consultation, seeks assistance of others, uses related research, and makes recommendations and referrals for the implementation of services.
• Maintains up-to-date records and reports of services provided in accordance with established rules, regulations, and ethical standards.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Thorough knowledge of the theory, principles and methods of speech pathology and their proper application in educational environment.
• Knowledge of appropriate evaluating tools.
• Knowledge of the equipment and assistive technology available to use in therapy.
• Knowledge of current literature, trends, and development in the field of speech pathology.
• Knowledge of federal and NC state regulations governing students with disabilities.
• Skill in directly providing a wide range of treatment activities.
• Ability to select and administer appropriate assessment and treatment methods.
• Ability to screen, evaluate and provide required speech pathology services.
• Ability to develop and implement individualized programs.
• Ability to accurately document sessions.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

•Minimum: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Currently hold or eligible to hold NC teaching license as a Speech-Language Pathologist

•Desirable: Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology with a valid NC Teaching License as a Speech-Language Pathologist and two years applicable work experience.
