Position at Sumitomo Electric Wiring Systems, Inc.

SEWS - Farmington Hills, Michigan Office.Although located at SEWS – Farmington Hills Office, this is a Hybrid position, which combines both in office and off-site work.Associates are required to work at least two days in the office each week, but also have the flexibility to work off-site.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Review new components, create issue prevention plan. Work with manufacturing to make sure the correct component use and take action for potential error.
2. Determine appropriate component use. Terminal and wire seal selection based on wire type and size. Covering material selection based on material compatibility with wires.
3. Work with cross functional team to resolve the issues raised from Customer and/ or wire harness manufacturing.
4. Issue prevention based on lesson and learnt, take reoccurrence prevention action for design and manufacturing issues.
5. Feasibility and efficiency review of wire harness design at cost study process. (communization, standardization, optimization)
6. Process development for new technology and / or new wire harness production process.
7. Profit improvement: Idea generation and kick off project to monitor/ follow up until implementation. Obsolescence prevention.
8. Process improvement: Idea generation and implementation for Core/ Application team activities.
9. Work with new/ existing Customers to understand specifications and requirements. Review new Customer specifications and requirements with cross functional team.
10. Visit wire harness production and vehicle build site, take action to prevent potential issues, monitor and follow up this prevention action.

Qualifications:

4 year BS in Electrical Engineering/BS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent degree with experience as an Application Engineering.

3-5 years Application Engineering experience.

Spanish language skill preferred
