JOB SUMMARY


This is an intern position designed to help develop a social determinants of health (SDOH) accelerator plan as part of the chronic disease prevention team. This will include working with SLCoHD staff and community partners, doing primary and secondary research assessments, developing strategies and evaluation mechanisms, etc. At least part of this plan will include addressing food insecurity and may include other aspects of SDOH depending on applicant interests, abilities, and connections. Whereas this work will require some higher-level skills or expertise to effectively accomplish, this is an ideal opportunity for a masters program student/graduate or experienced professional to have a large impact and boost their resume. Represents the Division of Community Health Services in countywide health education, health promotion and risk reduction programs.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

Graduate student working towards a Master's degree in Public Health, Health Education, Health Science, Early Childhood Education, Community Health, or Behavioral Science and Health with an emphasis in Health Education.

 

A valid Driver’s License issued by the State of Utah and reliable means of transportation is required at the time of hire.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


• Develops, plans and implements health education, behavior risk reduction, and outreach programs.
• Assesses health education needs and priorities of various populations using appropriate assessment tools.
• Develops, conducts and evaluates the effectiveness of health education/health promotion programs.
• Creates marketing and educational materials; promotes events through various marketing methods.
• Acts as a resource providing provides linkages to communities.
• Policy development and/or implementation focused on population-based behavior change.
• Develops and prepares required reports and documents.
• Collaborates with internal and community agencies to accomplish stated objectives.

• Acts as a representative of the agency and program.

 

PAID INTERN POSITIONS:

 

An “At Will”, FLSA non-exempt employee who is not eligible for County benefits and who must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or an average of 129 hours or less per month. 

This internship is scheduled to work 10-20 hours per week. Exact work schedule is flexible with some in-office work on either Monday or Wednesday required.
