Description

Reporting to the Director of the Labriola National American Indian Data Center at Arizona State University, the Project Archivist is responsible for coordination and implementation of a grant-funded three-year project (Jan 2024-2026) to engage in community-based participatory archives development with selected Tribal communities and Native Nations in Arizona. As a representative of ASU, the Project Archivist is responsible for cultivating relationships and liaising with the Native Nations and Tribal communities identified for this project, and collaborating with our ASU School of Law partners to co-develop intellectual and cultural property licenses or memoranda and to collaboratively arrange, describe, and provide access to Indigenous archival materials. The Project Archivist works with community partners to ensure the appropriate disposition of collections; archival processing; and may prepare materials for reformatting, digitization, preservation, and access.

This position leads best practices toolkit development, leads archives work within the context of the project, and ensures alignment with ASU Library and Labriola Center policies and practices. The Project Archivist also ensures compliance with all approved Institutional Review Board specifications, guidelines, and requirements. The Project Archivist employs a team-based approach to problem-solving, and ensures timely project completion, statistics tracking, project reporting, and contributes to the overall success of the project.

Salary and Rank : This is a Fixed Term, Grant Funded, Academic Professional position; Assistant/Associate Archivist rank and salary dependent upon experience.
