We are seeking a skilled and motivated candidate to fill our commercial HVAC Duct Estimator role. This individual should have extensive experience in commercial mechanical HVAC Duct estimating. Experience with FastEST is a plus.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Duct Estimator in the construction industry.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents.
- Excellent knowledge of construction materials, methods, and equipment.
- Familiarity with cost databases, industry benchmarks, and pricing sources.
- Ability to perform accurate quantity takeoffs, cost estimates and accurate conceptual budgets.
- Experience in soliciting and evaluating subcontractor and supplier bids.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in relevant computer software and estimating tools.
- Knowledge of project budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Familiarity with project closeout processes and documentation.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
The position is responsible for:
- Review project plans, specifications, and other relevant documents to understand the scope of work.
- Conduct a thorough analysis of project requirements, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor needs.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to clarify project details and identify any potential challenges or opportunities.
- Perform accurate quantity takeoffs from project drawings and specifications.
- Research and gather pricing information for materials, equipment, and subcontractor services.
- Utilize cost databases, historical data, and industry benchmarks to estimate costs.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including labor, materials, equipment, and indirect costs.
- Identify and solicit bids from subcontractors and vendors for various project components.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals to ensure scope, competitiveness, and compliance.
- Negotiate pricing and terms with subcontractors and suppliers to achieve cost-effective solutions.
- Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to facilitate future bidding and collaboration.
- Prepare and compile bid packages, ensuring all required documentation and qualifications are included.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to review and finalize bid submissions.
- Submit bids within specified deadlines and follow up as necessary.
- Participate in bid clarification meetings and provide necessary information to clients or consultants.
- Maintain accurate records of bid submissions, outcomes, and post-bid activities.
- Identify value engineering opportunities to reduce costs while maintaining project quality and performance.
- Provide recommendations to project teams on cost optimization strategies.
- Provide input for project budgeting and financial forecasting.
- Participate in project closeout processes, including final cost analysis and lessons learned documentation.
- Builds effective relationships with customers, design team, specialty contractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations.
- Actively participates in industry, client, and community relations to enhance company image.
- Performs other related duties as needed.
- Assist project personnel on successful proposals as follows:
- Participate in the transfer of information on successful projects including the Estimating Turn Over Meeting
- Assist in the preparation and review of work plans as requested.
- Participate in periodic reviews and visits to projects as appropriate.
- Analyses of change impacts as required (Prior to award of any project)
