Requirements / Qualifications

Experience:

~Two (2) years of driving experience as a school bus driver and three years of experience operating vehicles requiring a Class A or B commercial driver license;

~Two (2) years experience as a certified trainer of school bus drivers, preferred.

Education:

~High school diploma or equivalent, supplemented by training or coursework in bus driver safety and training programs

License and Certificate Requirements:

~Possession of a valid Class A or B, California driver license with appropriate endorsements;

~Possession of a California School Bus Driver's Certificate;

~Completion of a certified California Department of Education driver instructor course;

~Standard First Aid Certificate.

~Applicants must have held a valid driver's license for the past three consecutive years, to date, with no chargeable accidents within that time;

~Any moving traffic citation during the past ten years will be evaluated and may be considered disqualifying;

~Applicants may be required to possess a valid unrestricted California driver license and an unrestricted California Type I School Bus Driver Certificate;

~Must pass State Skills Test and State Written Test

~Must meet minimum physical requirements as prescribed by the California Department of Motor Vehicles

~Must be able to be insured and continue to be insurable
