Job description
Under moderate supervision, the Sheet Metal Operator will operate shears, punch press, notchers, and bending equipment to cut and shape sheet metal, and do other work as required.

What Is E-Verify?
E-Verify is an Internet-based system that compares information entered by an employer from an employee’s Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification, to records available to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and the Social Security Administration to confirm employment eligibility.
E-Verify is administered by SSA and U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services.
Responsibilities:
- Moves and prepares sheet metal for work
- Measures surface to determine the proper length, width, thickness, and coverage required for the job
- Operates sheers to cut doors, sides, roofs, and small parts
- Operates punch press to measure and cut square, circular, and other shaped holes
- May operate manual and computerized press brakes to bend corners in sheet metal and back gauges, including making horizontal and vertical adjustments
- May operate notcher to make open or closed cuts for doors, sides, roofs, and small parts
- May operate grinders and cutting torches
- Fabricates plastic barriers using appropriate tools and equipment
- Moves material into proper position, cleans, and maintains work area
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Compute rate, ratio, and percent, and draw and interpret bar graphs
- Ability to lift heavy materials and tools
- Must be able to read and interpret blueprints
- Experience in working with machinery such as press brakes and shears
- Ability to cut parts, punch, and bend with press brakes as needed
